Where does the word fetta come from? 🔎
Fetta has an uncertain origin, but it probably comes from the Latin *offitta, diminutive of offa meaning "morsel". The word was formed through a process called "wrong separation of the article": people heard "l'offitta" and interpreted the first part (lo) as the article, thus creating the word "fetta".
